Colorado Rain

September 27, 2008 by bobcatou

I took off today from Moab to Colorado.

The plan was to go to Telluride then get within an hour of Canon City. The weather didn’t cooperate so I bypassed Telluride and only headed toward Canon City.

I was expecting to only hit some rain briefly in the mountain passes but the precipitation lasted much longer and because of the high altitudes, it got a little cold.

I would of taken some shots of the rain but it was too miserable to get off the bike.

I wound up stopping about 100 miles short of Canon City in the town of Gunnison. The last past between here and Canon City is suppose to take me up to about 12000 feet and I didn’t want to ride that in the rain. I figured it might make for some nice pictures the tomorrow and if I hold out, maybe the rain will pass.

I’ll try to get some shots as well as some bungee jumpers from Canon City next.

Well my bike did. It was overdue.

I can actually see my instrument panel and what speed I am going now.

Stayed in Moab one more day

September 26, 2008 by bobcatou

I woke up this morning with full intentions of leaving Moab and heading to Canon City, CO to watch the Bungee Jumping competition.   I started my day at the Moab Diner where I had this delicious Green Chili Omelet.

After breakfast, I was going to knock out some quick computer work but one thing led to another and time got away from me. By the time I had written a couple blog posts, called a station about a job, started a cover letter and took care of some other minor things, I could see I wasn’t going to make it Canon City today. At first I thought I might just get as far as I could on my bike but since I was enjoying my time talking with some of the employees of the Arches Book Company, and coffee shop, I thought I would just stay in Moab one more day.

One girl there recommended that I ride out to Needles Pass. It’s an overlook of Needles Canyon, part of the Canyonlands.

All in all it was a pretty nice day. Tomorrow I plan to get up early and head out FOR REAL for a few more stops then back to Ohio.
