My Story

As a 20+ year veteran of both the technical and editorial sides of news production, (18 of which spent at CNN in Atlanta) I decided it was time to pursue other goals and interests. I sold my home to take a furlough from my career and go on an adventure through the United States to expand my horizons.

This life-changing decision has taken me through 43 states and 3 Canadian provinces and has added 60,000 miles to the odometer of my BMW F650GS motorcycle. Along the way, I have met fascinating people, made many friends and learned quite a bit about myself.

Trips that I would recommend would start at hiking to the top of Angels Landing in Zion National Park, seeing the sand dunes of Death Valley at sunrise or having a fresh fish dinner either on Prince Edward Island in Canada or on the Outer Banks in North Carolina.

Now I have taken some time off from traveling to start a web design business called Listen to the Wind Media. I self-taught myself web design and have started speaking at WordCamps to help others with their craft and business. I am also a co-organizer of the Dayton WordPress Meetup and Dayton WordCamp.

I soon plan to take my business on the road for a couple of months and go back to so many places I loved, and do my work there. That is one of the reasons I chose web design. My office can be anywhere. It sure doesn’t hurt working on my MacBook Pro with pretty scenery, new friends and great hiking around me.
