Rainy Day in Bar Harbor

May 31, 2008 by bobcatou

I spent a good but wet day in Bar Harbor Saturday. I didn’t want to stay in my room so I challenged the elements on foot and left my motorcycle behind at my motel.

As I entered the downtown. I ate breakfast at Jordan’s Restaurant. A hometown type restaurant that serves great breakfasts. The “Maine Delight” omelet was on my plate this day.

After breakfast, I continued to walk around town and wandered through several shops. I enjoy some very good Chocolate Cookie Dough Fudge at Ben & Bill’s Chocolate Emporium

I enjoyed wandering around the docks and other areas even though the weather was pretty dreary. I do plan to go back again tomorrow or Monday and enjoy some more of the sites. Below are a few more pictures from my day.

Sunday I plan to set up a campsite in The Acadia National Park and ride down to Camden. My brother knows a Marina Manager in Camden, so I plan to go say hi and introduce myself.

Until my next post…

Arrived in Bar Harbor, Maine

May 31, 2008 by bobcatou

I arrived on Bar Harbor, Maine around dusk last night. The town is expecting rain today so I decided to stay in a motel, The Bar Harbor Manor, which is right downtown. I was happy to get a very good off season rate. I don’t plan to hang out in my room today but rather wander the town in the rain. (I hope to sniff out some good fish and chips or even try lobster.)

I’m moving to a campsite tomorrow morning in Acadia National Park, which is right next to Bar Harbor. I plan to stay around here until Tuesday morning. Till then, I plan to hike around Acadia one day, ride down the coast another day and hang out in Bar Harbor.

I have to curb my “Internet Fix” for the next couple of days because I left an AC adapter to my laptop at a friend’s in New Hampshire but I will still try to get some good pictures on the blog in the next day or so with my remaining batteries.

Off to town for me now.

Catskills, friends and flakey battieries

May 30, 2008 by bobcatou

Today I rode my bike from Kingston, NY to Exeter, NH. I had a short stop in the Catskill Mountains but had to move on because of time. In Exeter, I stayed with an old OLD friend from my childhood, named Eric Lipsitt.

He is much younger here and has more hair. 😉

Eric and his wife Tracy picked a beautiful town to live in. Exeter has lots of history with many buildings dating back to the 1700’s

I did have some minor mechanical problems on my ride to Exeter. My battery died for some unknown reason so I had to get a jump start. Since my battery was “older” and I am going to ride into Canada. I decided to buy a new battery just to be safe. After talking with several individuals, it seemed that my battery was telling me that it was due to be replaced. (At least that is what I hope.)

Onward north now.
