Now seeing the Ocracoke Light Station wasn’t my favorite part of this visit to the landmark, but rather it was meeting The Light Keeper itself. This individual was a young and very mellow cat that slept on the boardwalk leading to the light station. Like someone there told me, every lighthouse needs a lighthouse cat.
Cape Hatteras Lighthouse
This is probably my favorite landmark here on the Island. It’s the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Years back The National Parks Service had to move the lighthouse because of beach erosion. Now it sits safely back from the water. The NPS charges a $7 fee to climb to the top of the lighthouse which seemed a little steep for to me, so I passed on that pleasure.
JAWS
As a kid, I had fished The Outer Banks on vacations. I’m not much of a fisherman anymore, but I thought it would be fun to stop by the Avon Pier. As I arrived, this man was unhooking a Spinner shark. The fish was not happy either. After the shark was posed for a few pictures, the fisherman released the fish back into the water.
